Amnesty Shop Coronavirus Updates

As all of our thoughts focus on the coronavirus situation, we wanted to share updates on what we are doing at the Amnesty Shop.

Update 17 April, 2020

  • When items arrive to the warehouse, they are quarantined for 72 hours before being added to the shelves as a precautionary measure to ensure our staff are protected.
  • We would advise that once you have recieved and opened your parcel, to recycle the packaging immediately and then wash your hands in the usual way.
  • Due to the size of our warehouse, staff have plenty of space to be able to practice social distancing and are staggering breaks so that there is no over crowding in the canteen.

Update 1 April, 2020

  • We have reduced the number of staff working in the warehouse and they are following strict distancing rules. This may mean that orders take a little longer than usual to reach you. Please bear with us.
  • Our customer care team is also reduced so may take longer than usual to respond to your calls and emails.
  • We have temporarily extended our returns policy to give you longer to return an item, and avoid having to make unnecessary trips to the post office.
  • We are working to make more essential items available to you to help in this difficult period. Please consider only ordering essential items.
  • Some of our fair trade suppliers in Asia and Pacific Region are taking steps to educate farmers and workers to create awareness and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their communities.

Update 24 March, 2020

We are taking precautions as necessary and following advice from the government, but for now we are still operating as normal. Our shop is open for business and our staff are ready to take your order. Your health and safety is our top priority and we believe it’s critical to do our part to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Here are some of the steps we are taking to protect everyone in this ever-evolving situation:

  • We are working hard to make sure that the products you love are delivered in the safest way possible.
  • We are diligently following guidance and best practices from the NHS and the UK Government.
  • Our customer care team is available to answer any questions you may have on the precautions we’re taking to protect your health and safety.
  • Our courier services are still available and running as normal but we've reduced the contact between our warehouse staff and delivery drivers as a further precaution.
  • We are equally committed to taking care of our employees:
  • Our staff are healthy and are taking extra precautions given the circumstances.
  • Our head office staff are now working from home and our warehouse staff are working in shifts to mitigate the risk of spreading the virus.
  • We have increased the cleaning regimes in our building and are keeping staff up to date with the latest advice and best practice.

As a small co-operative working with Amnesty, we rely on your custom and really appreciate your support.
Stay well and all the best in these unusual times.
